We are finally doing it.

Twenty five years ago we bought a property at Pelican Pointe on Last Mountain Lake in Saskatchewan. Our kids grew up, their Dad passed away, yet all this time I dreamed of living at the lake. Finally, with a new spouse, two children, four step-children, six grandchildren and another grand child on the way, the dream of my new home is becoming a reality.

The home was custom designed, in 2007, by Robinson Residential in Regina, Sk. The basement is being built by a local contractor and the main floor and loft are being built and brought in by Conquest Manufacturing in Altona, Manitoba.

We are able to see how this place will look (sort of).

We just received some pictures from the build at Conquest today.  Oh my goodness!!!

The front of the house with the covered veranda on the lake side.  The two small windows on the side will be in half the dining room.

The flooring is laid.  It is covered with plastic for now.

To the left is the front 1/2 of the master suite and in the corner (middle of picture) is where the fireplace will sit.

The entrance way to the left and a den/guest room in the middle.  There will be shelves on either side of the den.  To the right is the back of the master suite where the walk in closet and exercise room will be.

The loft section.  The loft will be overlooking the great room.

The back of the loft looking out onto the road.

The front of the loft looking out onto the lake.

Back of the main floor.  This will connect to the front/veranda section shown in a previous post.  Looking from the left will be the en suite bath (window), the den, entrance doorway and another doorway to the mudroom/laundry and guest bath areas.

This is a view of the loft section with the front section of the main floor in behind.  The back section in the previous picture will connect to the front main floor section in this picture.  Then the loft will be lowered onto the whole thing to finish the house.

We are getting very excited about our trip to Altona next week.!!!!!!There will be lots more to see and we are hoping that some of the cabinets will be in.

The basement is nearly finished and will be waiting for the house by mid August.  This weekend we will be cutting back some branches of trees to make sure the house does not hit anything as the crane lifts it into place.  Hope it does not rain.

Demolition of the old place.

Taking down the Palace.

The Palace is Gone.

The Palace is Gone.
Nothing but an empty lot for now.

Sad to see the old place go.

Well...it only took an hour and a half to demolish the old cottage. Having the place gone will not erase all the wonderful memories. Watching my two kids play every summer, having eight kids in my daycare out there a week at a time for 7 summers in a row, friends and families enjoying the lake and a good B.B.Q. It is sad but exciting to think that we will have a new home for all the kids, grand kids and friends to visit. One month away from the house rolling in from Altona. YIKES.

The Basement.

The Basement.
Just a big, empty hole in the ground to start.

Ready for the basement walls
