We are finally doing it.

Twenty five years ago we bought a property at Pelican Pointe on Last Mountain Lake in Saskatchewan. Our kids grew up, their Dad passed away, yet all this time I dreamed of living at the lake. Finally, with a new spouse, two children, four step-children, six grandchildren and another grand child on the way, the dream of my new home is becoming a reality.

The home was custom designed, in 2007, by Robinson Residential in Regina, Sk. The basement is being built by a local contractor and the main floor and loft are being built and brought in by Conquest Manufacturing in Altona, Manitoba.

Rain, Rain, Please please please go away

So.....we thought that the house would be sitting at Pelican Pointe on the basement today.  That was the plan.  Best laid plans....
It has rained and rained the last three days.  We were planning on staging the house at a small town called Silton, a few minutes from our place.  The three pieces to move would sit in the staging area and be moved to the basement.  But the rain has turned the Silton roads and staging area into a quagmire.  So the movers stayed in Balgonie, Sk. last night and then moved 2/3 of the house to the Craven Big Valley Jamboree site. This is a huge area and the loft section will be moved to this staging area tomorrow.  We hope to have the house out of there by Friday.   And sitting on the foundation at Pelican Pointe. The crane cannot be set until everything dries up and  I am a wreck!!!

Pictures are of 2/3 of the house sitting at the Big Valley Jamboree site.  Good thing the party out there is not happening this weekend.

Guess we will have to wait an extra few days before we are sitting on the veranda watching the pelicans, geese, baby grebes,, sailboats, noisy boats, etc.  After twenty five years of dreaming a few more days is insignificant I guess.

The loft section that will sit over the middle of the house is currently about 50 miles away from these sibling sections.  Hoping that a nice sectional reunion will transpire this week.  We saw what we thought was an eagle this evening.  Good sign???

Demolition of the old place.

Taking down the Palace.

The Palace is Gone.

The Palace is Gone.
Nothing but an empty lot for now.

Sad to see the old place go.

Well...it only took an hour and a half to demolish the old cottage. Having the place gone will not erase all the wonderful memories. Watching my two kids play every summer, having eight kids in my daycare out there a week at a time for 7 summers in a row, friends and families enjoying the lake and a good B.B.Q. It is sad but exciting to think that we will have a new home for all the kids, grand kids and friends to visit. One month away from the house rolling in from Altona. YIKES.

Just a big, empty hole in the ground to start.
